About Us
We're a small home-based cattery located less than an hour outside of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where we raise beautiful Napoleon Kittens, Munchkin Kittens, and occasionally the beautiful Persians and Color Points of the Himalayan Kittens..
Our cattery is owned jointly by my daughter, Stacie, my son-in-law, Mark, and myself. We share all the duties, the tears when we lose a beloved kitten, and the joy we feel when each litter is born.
Our
kittens are born and raised in our homes and are handled and played with
and talked to from birth so that by the time they're old enough to go
home with their new families, they're very socialized.
We
have recently built a building to house our males in order to keep them
from stressing out whenever our females are in heat. We plan to also
use the building to house the kittens during their "litter training"
because they do so much better when their roaming space is smaller and
they can find their litter box. Also, the males seems to love the
babies as much as the females do so we want them to be able to
interact. Because of this we often have males "baby sitting" the
kittens while mom goes off for a well deserved breather, and it's not
unusual to see one mother nursing not only her kittens but one of the
other mom's kittens as well. Munchkins and Napoleons don't seem to have
any problem interacting with each others' kittens.
The
name of our cattery, Our Favorite Things, says it all. Our cats and
kittens are truly some of Our Favorite Things and the love we feel for
them is reflected in their wonderful personalities and their ability to
adapt so easily to their new families.
